October 2006 - Hot Springs Documentary Film Fest

Excited to screen at an all-doc fest, I decided to break the piggy bank and fly out to the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival in Arkansas. Yes, it was a lot of documentaries. If I never see another documentary again, I should be okay. The fest was great, and the nicest bunch of volunteers I've ever seen. Even in red-state Arkansas, people were supportive of American/Sandinista, and wanted to know when they could get a copy of the film. Soon! I promise....

I think my favorite film of the weekend was Crawford, about George Bush's hometown. Also good was Sittin and Pickin, and Operation Homecoming. I'm interested to see where documentary film goes now that Bush is out, Republicans are fading from power, and these wars are (hopefully) soon coming to and end. What will we make docs about?....
